I'm not from here
In the summer of 2009 I moved to London to be with my partner. I was excited to be moving
to a new city but after several months, the excitement soon wore off with an unending sense
of loneliness quickly replacing it.
It was difficult moving from a place where I always had a close circle of family and friends
to a city where I knew one person. Even after three years, I’m still not sure if I even like the
city. I still get lost and get sudden urges just to leave the city and to never return.
I took these photographs while walking through London trying to help create a familiarity
with the city but all they serve to do is remind me that I’m not from here.
